Visit to Taj Mahal - After the death of Mumtaz Mahal, the Mughal emperor
Shah Jahan built the world famous tomb Taj Mahal in
memory of his beloved wife. It is an architectural marvel
and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Taj Mahal
is a symbol of love expressed by a husband for his wife.
The delicate design of the monument is a true instance
of the best craftsmanship of the world. It took seventeen
year to build this wonder. The design of Taj Mahal is
a combination of Hindu, Persian and earlier Mughal architecture.
The other Mughal tombs have great influence on the architecture
of Taj Mahal. But instead of red sand stone this tomb
was built by white marble and semi precious stones that
made it different from all other Mughal architecture.
Hindu craftsmen, sculptors and stonecutters were fully
used for building this monument. Taj Mahal is decorated
with a beautiful Mughal garden called Charbagh. Three
sides of the tomb are surrounded by specially designed
red sandstone wall.
