The land of Himachal Pradesh is a visual enchantment
for the lovers of nature. There are a number of lakes
in the state that contribute to enhance the attractiveness
of the state.
Renuka Lake
Renuka Lake has the circumference of 2.5 km and
672 m deep and is the largest in Himachal. This composed
stretch of water is fed by subversive springs and the
neighboring hills are padded by lush forests which are
a home to a diverse variety of plant and animal life.

Rewalsar Lake
Perched at an altitude of 1360m and a distance of
24 km from Mandi town, Rewalsar Lake is famous for its
floating island. There is also a small zoo located close
by the lake.
Khajjiar Lake
Khajjiar Lake is a natural lake that does not depend
on rain water to feed it. It is rather fed by slim streams
and has large glades of Khajjar around it. The Kalatop
Sanctuary bounds the 1 km wide and 1.5 km long lake.
The Lake is 16 km from Dalhousie and 25 km Chamba.
Dal Lake
This lake in the district of Kangra is also considered
holy by the people and has a small Shiva Temple on its
bank. Every year in the month of September, the surrounding
area of the lake becomes venue for a fair.
Brighu Lake
This lake is considered extremely sacred. Situated in
the Kullu district, the lake is around 6 km from the
village of Gulaba. The lake is around 3 to 4 m deep
and is covered by snow throughout the winter season.
Parashar Lake
This Lake is nestled in a cup like valley, 30 - 40 km
from Mandi town. A temple devoted to the sage occupies
the side of the lake. In the month of June a fair is
organized.
Manimahesh Lake
Manimahesh Lake is located at a height of 4080 m in
the district of Chamba, around 32 km from Bharmaur.
The lake lies at the foothills of the Manimahesh Kailash
which is regarded as an abode of Lord Shiva. A fair
is organized here on an annual basis in the month of
August or September.
Chandartal Lake
At an altitude of 4300 m, the Chandartal Lake is located
at a distance of around 6 km from the Kunzam Pass.
There are other lakes in Himachal Pradesh which are
equally attractive and must visit place for a tourist.
