The Sariska Tiger Reserve is the major tourist
attraction in Alwar .This was earlier a hunting conserve
of the Maharajah of Alwar. It was declared as a Tiger
Reserve in 1978 and now is an integral part of the Indian
Project Tiger scheme in the Alwar Tourist Attractions.
The Fort here at Alwar stretches 5 km from east
to west, and is an imposing fort standing 304 meters
above the city and 595 meters above the sea level.The
huge fort has 15 large and 51 small towers and 446 openings
for musketry, along with 8 huge towers encircling it.
There are many gates here like Jai Pol, Suraj Pol, Laxman
Pol,Chand Pol, Kishan Pol and Andheri Gate. Here you
will find ruins of Jal Mahal, Nikumbh Mahal, Salim Sagar,
Suraj Kund and many temples in the Alwar Tourist

Government Museums: You will find here rich
collection of Mughal and Rajput painting which date
back to the 18th and 19th centuries and also there are
some rare ancient manuscripts in Persian., Arabic, Urdu
and Sanskrit .And that includes Gulistan (the garden
of rose) Waqiat-I-Babri (autobiography of the Mughal
emperor Babar) and Bostan the garden of spring.
Purjan Vihar or Company Garden is a beautiful
garden laid out during the rule of Maharaja Shiv Dan
Singh in 1868 A,D. There is an impressive setting here
called Shimla constructed by Maharaja Mangal Singh.
City Palace Complex is one of the tourist attractions
in Alwar which is an imposing structure with huge gates
and tank with symmetrical chain of ghats
Jai Samand Lake is located 6-km from the city.This
is a picturesque artificial lake built by Maharaja Jai
Singh in 1910 AD
Sagar is another artificial lake located behind
the City Palace. It was built in 1815 A.D. by Maharaja
Vinay Singh .There are few temples on its shores.
Siliserh Lake is a spectacular lake situated
13 km from the city of Alwar and was constructed in
1845 AD by Maharaja Vinay Singh for his Queen Shila
Vijay Mandir Palace is a magnificent palace
built by Maharaja Jai Singh in 1918 AD. Located 10-km
away from the city this splendid palace has a scenic
lake in front of it.
