Bala Quila Fort of Alwar is the exemplary instance of
the typical Rajputana culture and heritage.
Its appearance
reminds one of the regal era of Rajasthan and when this
fort was at the acme of its grandeur.
This massive fort
was built before the rise of the Mughal Empire and Stretches
5 km from the north to the south and 1.6 km from west
to east.
Bala Quila Fort in Alwar has 15 large and 51 small towers.
This magnificent fort also has some gates which are
namely; jai pol, Suraj pol, Laxman Pol, Chand Pol, Kishan
Pol and Andheri Gate.
The fort also houses the remains
of the Jal Mahal, Nikumbh Mahal, Salim Sagar, Suraj
Kund and a lot of temples.
This fort was eventually
conquered by Maharaja Pratap Singh in 1775 A.D.
Fort Bala Quila in Alwar is a towering fort which stands
to a height of 300 meters above the city.
The ascent
to the fort Bala Quila in Alwar has some of the most
panoramic views around it and on the way one will also
come across the temple of Goddess Mata Rani. The fort
is said to be built by Nikumbh Rajputs in 928 AD.
This
fort has also remained as the shelter to the Mughal
kings such as Prince Salim of Akbar who was on exile
and took shelter here.
