Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan was the favored hunting ground for the Maharajas of Jaipur. Sprawling over an area of 400 square meters, the Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan is embraced by the Vindhya and the Aravalli hill ranges. Two rivers meander its way through the park, the Chambal River and the Banas River. The Ranthambore National Park of Rajasthan also incorporates six man-made lakes and a number of perennial streams.

There are about 36 tigers and 40 leopards and it’s a real treat to watch these majestic predators. The tigers can even be spotted during the daytime. The visitors can spot Sloth Bear, Wild Boar, Chinkara, Porcupines and Jackals, Leopard, Jungle Cat, Marsh Crocodile, Sambhar, Chital, Nilgai, Gazzelle, Boars, Mongoose, Indian Hare and Monitor Lizards along with a large number of birds. The best part about the park is that you are not forbidden to take snaps. The park is home to both resident and migratory bird population.

Flora in Rajasthan’s Ranthambore National Park

Ranthambore National Park of Rajasthan is dominated with the typically dry deciduous type of forest with dhok, being the most prominent tree. Besides this the national park is also dotted with ancient Banyan Trees, Pipal trees and mango trees. The Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary has the two extremes - forests and open bush land. The other commonly occurring trees include Imli, Babul, Ber, Jamun and Kadam.

The other attractions of the Ranthambore National Park of Rajasthan comprise of old dilapidated walls, ruined pavilions, wells, and other ancient structures stand witness to the region's glorious past. The entire forest is strewn with the battlements and spillovers of the Ranthambore Fort.
