About Tour to Uttarkashi:
Surrounded by the Gangotri and Yamunotri glaciers and
the crisscross trails of the mountains Uttarkashi is
now becoming one of the major tourist spots in India.
Though it is basically a pilgrim site but it is gradually
gaining acceptance as a sports and adventure spot rapidly
and beckoning a large number of tourists from all over
the place. Tour of Uttarkashi could be one of the most
exciting ones for the tourists as it offers a large
number of options such as trekking, mountaineering or
just relaxing amidst the wilderness of the Garhwal hills.
It is situated at a height of 1550m on the bank of river
Bhagirathi in Uttar Pradesh. Alike Varanasi Uttarkashi
is also a pilgrim spot of the Hindus. Tour of Uttarkashi
will feature the Vishwanath temple which has a trident
and has a circumference of 1 meter made of copper. There
are temples dedicated to Rishi Parasuram, Datatryea,
Goddess Annapurna Devi, Goddess Kali and Bhairon.
The festival of Makar Sankranti which generally takes
place in the month of January is the best time to be
here on Uttarkashi tour as it features the colorful
ambience of the place and the deities are worshipped
on the palanquins from the villages nearby.
The best time for the Tour of Uttarkashi is from September
to November. It is equally a good resort for the adventurers
as the trekking includes the treks to Nachiketa Tal,
Dodi Tal, Dayara Bugyal, Sat Tal, Kedar Tal, Gangotri-Gaumukh-Nandanvan
Tapovan and to Yamunotri (the source of the river Yamuna).
The mountaineers can satisfy their desires by going
to the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering which is located
in Uttarkashi. For the trekkers as well as the mountaineers
the accommodation is available at the tourist Bungalow
and the lodges; however these accommodations must be
booked in advance in the Yatra season.
