The park is situated at 4500 meters above the sea level
and it is encircled by almost seventy peaks of Himalaya
range. Among them the Nanda Devi peak (7817 mts.) is
the highest and the park owes its name from this peak.
Nanda Devi National Park is enriched with green meadows,
enchanting waterfalls and diverse types of flora and
fauna.
In Nanda Devi National Park you can find rare species
of animals like Snow Leopard, Brown Bears, Himalayan
Black Bears, Bharal, Himalayan Tahr, Serow, Monal and
Chir Pheasants. To reach Nanda Devi National Park you
can use Joshimath as the base from where you can collect
various things from the stores and also get porters
and guides. You can take the route from Lata, on the
Joshimath-Malari Route. You can trek from this place
to Lata Kharak which is an untamed and green hilltop
and provides beautiful scope for mountaineering.
To reach Nanda Devi National Park there are other trekking
routes. These are Rini along with the Rishi Ganga River
through Kalikuna and Chinwari. On your way you can have
a marvelous sight of the scenic view with meadow decorated
with floral designs and the grass land.
